Period of validity - Transport exemption
A decision from Trafikverket regions on exemption from the maximum permitted width, length and weight normally applies for a maximum of 30 days and for a single transport.
For exemptions that apply to more than one transport, we can grant a longer validity period. According to the Transportstyrelsens (Swedish Transport Agency's) general advice, the validity period should not exceed five years.
The Trafikverket currently has the following practices for validity periods and exemption types:
Temporary exemption for a single transport
An exemption transport normally takes place within a few days after the decision, but it is appropriate to allow the exemption for a longer period. The decision on exemption for a single transport normally applies for a maximum of 30 days.
Temporary exemption for recurring transports on a certain route
A decision on exemption for recurring transports on a certain route normally applies between 30 and 360 days, depending on the width, length and / or weight of the transport. In an exemption decision for weight, a maximum of 90 or 180 days validity period applies.
General road network exemptions
For heavy transports, the validity period can be extended to 360 days
- for recurrent transport of indivisible loads on BK1 and BK4 roads on the main road network (E4-499) within a region and with a fixed maximum gross weight (currently 71 tonnes for vehicular combinations, 22 tonnes for bogies and 26 tonnes for triple axles), or
- for a heavy vehicle (eg mobile cranes) on the main road network (E4-499) within a region and with a certain maximum weight (max. 13 tonnes per axle and max. A / B value 12/24). The A / B value of the mobile crane is calculated in Trix. Contact the Transport Exemption Unit at the Swedish Transport Administration if you need more information.
