Upcoming Invitation to tender – Ålberga Contract, The East Link
In early February, market dialogues were held to inform and gather feedback from the supplier market regarding upcoming procurements for Ålberga, part of The East Link. The next step in the process will be the invitation to tender.
The tender invitation will be published in the Kommers system in May 2025.
Information about the Ålberga contract
The contract is part of the completion of the East Link, which consists of 160 kilometre new double track railway between Järna and Linköping. The Ålberga contract consist of two railway plans, Skavsta-Stavsjö and Sjösa-Skavsta, and combined the route includes approximately 29 kilometres of double-track, and the working area included in this contract is located about 70 kilometres south-west of Stockholm. Ålberga is planned to be conventionally constructed with ballasted track and concrete sleepers.
Several areas with high environmental and cultural values
The routh will pass through various terrains, including forested areas and agriculture landscape, and the railway alternates between embankments, bridges and cuttings. The routh also passes through areas with high environmental and cultural values. The scope of contract is planned to consist of 22 bridges, the longest approximately 1 150 meter long, excavation of around 1 150 000 m3 rock and 150 000 m3 soil excavation. The estimated cost is approximately 4.5 billion SEK for the construction contract.
The new railway passes through sensitive natural and cultural environments, for example this varied landscape by the Vretaån River.
The procurement will be conducted through the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) model, allowing contractors to be involved early in the process to contribute with their expertise and experiences.
