Vision Zero Conference 2023 in Stockholm: Taking road safety to the next level

VisionZero Conference 2023

Road Safety is a part of the Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals. In February 2020, Sweden hosted the Third Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety. Shortly after, the pandemic struck and the world closed down. Despite the pandemic, progress has been made on the global road safety policy scene and we are now heading into the second decade of action.

The Global Plan for the period 2011-2030 is there. It is time to regain the momentum and to take the next steps in our joint strive for a safer road transport system around the world – to go from visions to implementation and to take road safety to the next level – together.

Main topics

  • Vision Zero in a [rapidly] changing world
  • Agenda 2030 as an enabler for road safety and vice versa
  • Private sector role and engagement
  • Knowledge transfer and capacity building
  • Safe modal shift including safety for powered two-wheelers
  • New technologies and innovations

Organisers

The Vision Zero Conference is organised by the Government Offices of Sweden, the Swedish Transport Administration and the Swedish innovation agency Vinnova.

Participants

High-level representatives from government authorities, international organisations, private sector, academia, policy makers, NGOs, municipalities, and development banks will exchange knowledge and experiences, and discuss the way forward in order to reach the global goals. The conference will also provide an opportunity to link road safety to other global sustainability challenges.
