The theory test for driving licence category B (passenger car) is available in 14 languages. You choose language when you book your test. Please note that during the test you are only able to switch language to Swedish.
Audio version of the test
You can choose to listen to the test in Swedish. If you do so, you do not need to apply to use the audio version within the regular test time.
Theory test with an interpreter
If you cannot read and understand Swedish, you can take the test with an interpreter. Doing the test with an interpreter is available for all driving licence categories and tractor licence, but not for professional tests or driving tests.
You are able to apply for an oral test with an interpreter if you have severe reading difficulties in both Swedish and your native language.
Extended test time
If you have reading difficulties, you can apply for extended test time when taking the test. This means that the usual test time is extended by 50 per cent. You can also listen to the test in Swedish during the extended time.
Two types of oral tests
- An assessment test
- A read-aloud test
For the assessment test the examiner asks the questions and you answer them in your own words. You won’t have to read any text during the test. The examiner decides if your answers are correct.
This test may suit those who feel that it’s easier to explain in their words what they know. The examiner can adapt the test if necessary, for example by rephrasing the question.
For the read-aloud test the examiner reads out the questions and multiple-choice answers. You can see the text and pick the answer that you deem to be correct. The test is corrected automatically by the computer. This test may suit those who find it difficult to answer questions in their own words and prefer multiple choice answers.
Both types of oral tests can be taken with a sign language interpreter or a foreign language interpreter. If you are in need of an interpreter please state this in your application. This is available for all driving licence categories and tractor licence, but not for professional tests or driving tests.
