Report suspected irregularities relating to corruption, bribery, conflict of interest, working conditions and tax legislation

You can report any suspected irregularities relating to corruption, bribery, conflict of interest, working conditions and tax legislation at the Swedish Transport Administration. You can choose to remain anonymous.

Your report will be handled by the Swedish Transport Administration's internal audit team and is covered by applicable legislation, which provides protection for anyone reporting misconduct in the public interest in a work-related context. If you choose to submit your report via our whistleblower system, your identity will be subject to complete confidentiality. You can also report misconduct at a face-to-face meeting. Rights and freedoms

When you report misconduct, you are covered by two different rights: freedom of information and freedom of procurement.

Freedom of information means that everyone has the right to turn to media under constitutional protection (such as journalists) and provide information for publication. Anyone who provides information to such media has a legal right to anonymity, which means that the recipient of the tip cannot reveal their source if that person wishes to remain anonymous. Nor may the general public investigate who provided the information to the media, nor may they punish the person who provided the information (prohibition of retaliation).

Whistleblower protection is also applicable to public servants, who can provide verbal information to media under constitutional protection even if the information is subject to confidentiality in certain cases. This means that information provided verbally can be disclosed to certain media by public employees even though the information is subject to confidentiality.

Everyone has the right to obtain information so as to be able to pass it on later within the scope of freedom of information.

  • conflicts of interest and disqualification
  • contracts and agreements
  • bribery
  • working conditions
  • tax legislation
  • mishandling of property

Your report should include the following information

  • Name? (optional)
  • Contact details? (email address or phone number – optional)
  • What type of misconduct do you want to report to the Swedish Transport Administration?
  • Where did it take place?
  • When did it happen? Indicate the date and time and whether it is a recurring event.
  • Who is involved?
  • Do you have access to any kind of documentation?
  • Have you done anything else as a result of the misconduct? For example, have you notified any other body or person or the Swedish Transport Administration?
  • If vehicles are involved – have you noted the registration number?

How to report a matter

The Swedish Transport Administration has a whistleblowing function under the Whistleblowing Act (2021:890). You can report misconduct via an external function managed by Lantero, which is an external and independent receiving function.

All information linked to a case will be deleted from the system once the case is processed, so no sensitive information will be stored at Lantero unnecessarily.

What will happen to your report?

An independent investigation function will assess the case and launch an investigation, if necessary. This may lead to action under employment law, the matter may be reported to the police, or the case may be submitted to another party or be closed. If you provide information, you will receive confirmation that we have received your report along with feedback on how the data has been dealt with and any action taken.
